Resonator

A bank of resonances: any signal becomes a string, a bar or a bell

Open in the synth with a demo patch Open Modular

What it does

The Resonator is eight resonant filters tuned like the overtones of one body: String (harmonic overtones), Bar (like a marimba) or Bell (inharmonic). Whatever comes in — a clock click, noise, a voice — rings as that body. Note sets the fundamental; an event at note not only retunes but also strikes the resonator with a short click, so it sounds on its own without an input. Damping is the ring length, Bright how many upper overtones remain.
