ADSR
An envelope: attack, decay, sustain, release from a gate
Open in the synth with a demo patch Open ModularWhat it does
ADSR is an envelope: a curve that rises and falls when an event arrives. Attack is how long the signal takes to reach its peak, Decay how long it falls to the Sustain level, where it holds for as long as the event lasts, and Release how long it fades afterwards. The envelope outputs CV, so it can open a VCA (giving you loudness) or a filter (giving you a “wah”).
Ports

- Gate: starts the envelope
- out

Parameters

Try this
- Clock → ADSR → VCA Gain with a Drone on the VCA input: a continuous drone becomes pulsing waves.
- ADSR → filter Cutoff with a fast attack and a 0.3 s decay is the classic “plink” on every beat.
- Attack 3 s and Release 6 s from a Clock at 2 bars give slow tides of volume.
