Formant

Vowels A-E-I-O-U on one knob — a choir without samples

What it does

The Formant oscillator sends a rich saw through three band-pass filters tuned like the resonances of the vocal tract. The Vowel knob glides from A through E, I, O to U; the vowel input does the same from cv, so an LFO "sings" vowels and the Timeline opens the mouth toward the climax. Resonance sets how narrow the formants are (wider is softer, narrower is closer to synth speech), Breath mixes in noise.
