Quantize
Snaps any note to the nearest one in the chosen scale
Open in the synth with a demo patch Open ModularWhat it does
Quantize takes any note and pulls it to the nearest degree of the chosen scale above the chosen root. This is why random notes in Modular sound musical: whatever generated them, only notes from the scale come out. Pentatonics almost never clash, Lydian sounds bright and floating, and Chromatic lets everything through unchanged.

Try this
- Minor pentatonic is the safe bet for ambient: any two notes in it sound fine together.
- Switch the scale from minor to Lydian while the patch plays and listen to the mood change.
- Run both the melody and the drone through one Quantize so they always share a key.
