Function
Rise and fall with a shape: envelope, LFO and end-of-cycle trigger in one
Open in the synth with a demo patch Open ModularWhat it does
Function is a Maths-style generator: on a trigger the voltage rises over Rise and falls over Fall, and Shape bends the curves logarithmic (fast start) or exponential (slow start). In "once" mode it is an AD envelope for a VCA or a filter; in "cycle" mode an LFO with separately shaped halves. The eoc output fires a trigger at the end of every cycle: start the next Function, a Sequencer or anything else with it — that is how the modular builds rhythms without a clock.
Ports
- trig
- Trigger: start the function
- out
- Function cv 0…1
- eoc
- Trigger at the end of the cycle
Parameters
Rise · Fall · Shape · Mode · Level
Try this
- Cycle, Rise 4 s, Fall 6 s → Filter cutoff: a breath more asymmetric than any LFO.
- Function A eoc → Function B trig, B eoc → A trig: two functions launching each other — rhythm without a clock.
- Once, Rise 0.005, Fall 0.4, Shape −0.7 → VCA gain: a percussive pluck for Noise.
