Déjà Vu

Random notes with memory: repeat, replace or forget

Open in the synth with a demo patch Open Modular

What it does

Déjà Vu deals random values but remembers a loop of them. The Déjà vu knob is the probability of taking the remembered value instead of a new one: 100 repeats the loop exactly, 0 makes every step new, 60–80 gives a recognisable phrase where one note changes now and then. Bias and Spread set where and how widely new values are drawn, Jitter nudges events in time like a live player. Notes are quantized to the scale; cv gives the same value.
