Follower
Tracks the loudness of a sound and outputs it as CV
Open in the synth with a demo patch Open ModularWhat it does
Follower (an envelope follower) measures how loud the signal at its input is and outputs that loudness as a smooth CV from 0 to 1. Speed is how quickly it keeps up with changes: 2–4 Hz gives a slow wave, 30 Hz catches every hit. Gain boosts the result so that a quiet microphone still drives the modulation all the way. You plug a Follower in wherever an ADSR or LFO would go, except that now the sound itself, yours or another module's, drives the modulation.

Try this
- Voice → Follower → Filter Cutoff of a second voice: the louder one plays, the brighter the other sounds.
- Audio In → Follower → VCA Gain with Noise on the VCA input: a hiss that breathes with your voice.
- Follower on the Sampler → Attenuverter (Scale −1, Offset 1) → VCA Gain on a drone: the drone ducks on every sample hit.
