Zincke-Suhl reaction

1. A special case of Friedel-Crafts alkylation, in which the reduction of the phenyl ring leads to a higher energy final product that can be used as starting material in the dienol–benzene rearrangement, among other reactions.

Etymology

Named after Theodor Zincke and R. Suhl, who first described it in 1906.
