Etymology

Originally a reference to the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, where 絶(ぜっ)対(たい)恐(きょう)怖(ふ)領(りょう)域(いき) (zettai kyōfu ryōiki, “absolute terror field”) refers to a force field impenetrable by conventional weapons.
