Meanings

adj
  1. (originally) Describing a type of insurance policy or investment that pays bonuses linked to the issuing company's profits.
  2. Describing a type of medium- or long-term pooled investment, typically in a mix of assets, whose returns do not derive directly from the investments, but are instead delivered via guaranteed or variable bonuses, through which peaks and troughs of investment performance are "smoothed out" to provide a more consistent (or guaranteed) return over time.
