Etymology

From a mock childish pronunciation of racism, to express childishness and silliness (or a puerile lack of seriousness, as in an allegation of racism), from the way small children pronounce the sound of R (and also L) as [w] during early language-development. Compare wabbit, wuv, wittle and widdle.
