van Bogaert-Scherer-Epstein syndrome

Etymology

Originally named after Ludo van Bogaert, Hans Joachim Scherer, and Emil Epstein, who identified the condition. The condition was formally renamed to Cerebrotendineous xanthomatosis since Scherer was known to have been directly involved in the analysis of over 300 German and Polish children who were euthanized by Nazis during World War II. Therefore, the eponymous distinction was revoked.
