Etymology

From the title of a Super Mario Maker level "Larl Does Everything Twice Twice", a troll level intending to one-up the usual troll-level concept of making players repeat parts of the course (i.e., do them "twice"), instead duplicating entire sections of the level but with altered mechanics ("twice twice"). In the original title, appeared as an adverb, but as the idea proliferated it was very quickly used as a noun to refer to the level style itself.
