Etymology

Borrowed from translingual Trapezitinae. By surface analysis, translingual Trapezites + -ine. Further from Ancient Greek τρᾰπεζῑ́της (trăpezī́tēs, “banker”), τρᾰ́πεζᾰ (trắpeză, “table”), from Proto-Indo-European *tr̥-ped-ih₂- (“tripodal”), comprised of *tri- (“tri-, three”) and *pṓds (“foot”), themselves from *tréyes (“three”) and *ped- (“to walk, to step”).
