Pantelleria

Etymology

Borrowed from Italian Pantelleria, from Sicilian Pantiddirìa, from Arabic بِنْتُ الرِّياح (bintu ar-riyāḥ, “daugther of the winds”), perhaps through a dialectal Arabic form with a genitive particle (equivalent to a theoretical Maltese *bint tar-rjieħ, *bint tal-irjieħ).
