Masr

Etymology

From Classical Arabic مِصْر (miṣr) which originates from the Ancient Biblical Aramaic [script needed] (miṣrāyim), with the dual suffix -āyim, perhaps referring to the `two Egypts`: Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. مَصْر (maṣr) is the colloquial Egyptian Arabic pronunciation.
