Marsala Marsalas

Etymology

From Sicilian Marsala, from an Arabic name, probably مَرْسَى عَلِيّ (marsā ʕaliyy, “Ali's harbor”), or possibly مَرْسَى اللّٰه (marsā llāh, “God's harbor”). In any case, the first element is مَرْسَى (marsā, “harbor”).
