Lennoxtown

Etymology

From Scottish Gaelic leamhnachd + -town (possibly developed with the interfix -s-, leading to the modern term being spelled with an 'x'), a partial calque of Scottish Gaelic Baile na Leamhnachd, composed of Scottish Gaelic baile (“town, village”) + Scottish Gaelic na (“of”) + Scottish Gaelic leamhnachd (“new/fresh/raw milk”), literally “town of new/fresh/raw milk”, related to Irish leamhnacht (“new/fresh/raw milk”). Also compare Scots Lennoxtoon.
