Learned borrowing from Hittite 𒆳𒌷𒉺𒋾 (KURᵁᴿᵁḫat-ti /⁠Ḫatti⁠/). The original source etymon is also attested as Akkadian 𒆳𒉺𒋾 (ᴷᵁᴿḫat-ti /⁠Ḫatti⁠/) and Egyptian x:t-U30-A-qmA-xAst (ḫtꜣ).
