From Ancient Greek ἐγχυτρισμός (enkhutrismós, “enchytrism”), from ἐγχυτρίζω (enkhutrízō, “to expose a newborn in a pot”) + -μός (-mós), from lenited ἐν- (en-, “in-”) and χυτρίζω (khutrízō, “put in a pot”), from χύτρα (khútra, “clay pot”).
