Etymology

Unadapted borrowing from Sanskrit द्वापरयुग (dvāparayuga, “age of two”), द्वापर (dvāpara, “two”) + युग (yuga, “yuga”). Some etymologies claim it was named after the second worst throw in an ancient Indian dice game.
