From Dogri डोगरा (ḍogrā), from Sanskrit द्विगर्त (dvigarta). The script was officially referred to as Sanskrit द्विगर्त अक्षर (dvigarta akṣara, “Dogra letters”). Another indigenous name for the script is Dogri [script needed] (dogra akkharor, “New Dogra letters”).
