  1. Referring to each of Sun Yat-sen's "Three Principles of the People". From Pascal M. d'Elia's 1931 English translation The Triple Demism of Sun Yat-sen where the Three Principles are given as the "racial Demism" (民權主義, usually translated elsewhere as "nationalism"), "political Demism" (民權主義, usually "democracy"), and "economic Demism" (民生主義, usually "people's welfare" or "socialism"). Previously also translated (by the same translator) in French as Le triple démisme. Sometimes also Tridemism.
