Coldingham

Etymology

The second element, -ingham, is ultimately from Old English -ing + hām (“home”). The first element, Cold, is either from an unattested Old English given name, *Colud, or from hypothetical Proto-Celtic *kolout- (“hill”). Old English forms also include Old English Coludesburh, from the genitive of the same first element + burh (“town, fortress”).
