Etymology

From Chang'e + -s- + -ite. Named after Chinese goddess Chang'e (the moon goddess). Named for the Chang'e program, the Chinese lunar landers which discovered the minerals. From Mandarin Cháng'é (“ㄔㄤˊ ㄜˊ”) (Ch‘ang²-ê²), from Chinese 嫦娥 (Cháng'é).
