A drug C₁₃H₁₆N₂O₂ that inhibits the production of steroids by the adrenal cortex by blocking the conversion of cholesterol to pregnenolone and is used chiefly in the treatment of Cushing's disease. It is a derivative of glutethimide and has also been used as an aromatase inhibitor to treat cancers of the breast and prostate.
