What free-for-dev is

free-for-dev is a large list of services with free tiers useful to infrastructure developers, system administrators, and DevOps practitioners. It covers SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and related offerings, but not software to run yourself.

The project’s key rule is that the free tier must be real, not only a short trial. If time-limited, it should last at least a year. Security also matters: TLS should not be paid-only, for example.

What is inside and how it is used

Entry shape

This example shows the project shape and the usual way it is used.

Language: Markdown
## DNS

- ExampleDNS — free tier for domains and DNS records.

## Monitoring

- ExampleMonitor — free checks for small projects.

The list is organized into categories such as cloud providers, analytics, APIs, package repositories, CI/CD, DNS, email, monitoring, databases, hosting, and security. Contributors maintain it through pull requests and removals of retired offers.

Strengths and limits

Its strength is saving time during early project setup. Its limit is that service terms change constantly, so limits, country availability, billing rules, and pricing changes must be checked directly.
