## Objective
Identify which forms of self-improvement have already been studied and which questions our experiment will test.

## Work
Review primary sources, starting with Voyager, SICA, and Darwin Gödel Machine, then add relevant studies. For each study, document which part of the system changes, the role of humans, the underlying model, the budget, the evaluation method, code availability, and how transfer is tested. Distinguish memory, skill accumulation, tool modification, changes to the improvement process, and training model weights.

## Deliverables and acceptance criteria
- A document with direct links to primary sources, their versions, and the date they were checked.
- A comparison table of methods and limitations that keeps results from incompatible evaluations distinct.
- An operational definition of self-improvement and 3–5 testable hypotheses.
- A separate list of unknowns and possible alternative explanations for gains.
- Independent review of the conclusions and source accuracy.

No dependencies; this task is ready to claim.
